Congratulations on your decision to consider the rewarding career path as a professional massage therapist!
At the Bluewater Institute for Massage Therapy (BIMT), we take pride in the efficacy of our program, which is designed to meet the demands of the ever-emerging field of massage therapy.
Whether you are pursuing massage therapy as a new career or a change in life goals, it is an exciting time to be entering the field. Massage and bodywork are increasingly recognized as an integral part of holistic and complementary healthcare. Massage professionals are employed in a wide variety of settings including sports clinics, chiropractic offices, hospitals, hospices as well as the more traditional spas, health clubs, hair salons, resorts, and yoga studios. In addition, many bodywork professionals enjoy self-employment with flexible schedules and vast earning potential.
Our comprehensive Massage Therapy Certification Program includes 650-hours of thorough instruction in the most high-demand and effective massage therapy and bodywork techniques, advanced anatomy, pathology, kinesiology, and physiology, business development skills, therapist self-care, and body mechanics practices, as well as Student Clinic/Practical Applications to help you gain all the experience needed to begin work immediately.
It is our goal to not only ensure you a well-rounded and complete education, but to empower and prepare you to take and pass the Massage & Bodywork Licensing Exam (MBLEx) in order to obtain a license in Alabama. We are here to help you any way possible.
Feel free to contact us for a one/one meeting and school tour.
Sincerely,
Kellony Everett Kristof, LMT 2720, I-322 BIMT Director of Education

In all classes, the ratio of instructors to students will be 1:8 (one instructor for up to 8 students). Exceptions are possible under the right circumstances- but will never exceed 1:10.
Registration for classes must be completed five days prior to the beginning of each term. To be considered for enrollment at BIMT, the applicant must be at least 17 years of age (provided that they will be 18 years old at the time of graduation) and possess a high school transcript showing graduation from high school with a 2.0 or better GPA, GED certificate or a college transcript reflecting achievement beyond the high school level.
To benefit from massage therapy training, the student should be in good health and have reasonable stamina, as the work of a massage therapist can be physically demanding.
It is expected that the student will have the motivation to complete the program in the time allotted and have the aptitude to study the written, technical and practical material.
The student should have the financial resources necessary to complete the program.
All applicants must be interviewed at BIMT prior to admission into the program by the Director or Assistant Director. Interviews must be scheduled Monday through Friday 10:00 am-6:00 pm.

Applications may be submitted by mail, or by appointment.

PLEASE NOTE: Prior criminal convictions may affect a student’s ability to become a licensed massage therapist in the state of Alabama. That decision will be made by the Alabama Board of Massage Therapy after the student’s graduation from BIMT.
